2007 In The Rearview Mirror

The year that was 2007 is winding down quickly and in just a couple of days we will be welcoming in 2008. Happy New Year to all of you who read the blog and keep the comments, suggestions, and tips rolling in.

I will do my very best to keep the blog updated regularly consistantly.

But now is the fun part... have any 2008 media predictions? If so, email them to me at: thenews2k@gmail.com or place them in the comments section below. Have fun! I will compile a list in a few days and make a new post.

Weekend Thoughts

* Is Springfield FOX affiliate (KSFX) planning a morning newscast? The website is advertising for a morning anchor.

* KYTV's political coorespondent David Catanese blogged that he will be heading to Iowa to follow the caucuses next week. Should make for interesting tv...

* CNN's Anderson Cooper will anchor a special 360 LIVE Saturday night from Pakistan. The question TV Newser is asking is: will he back in Time's Square for New Year's Eve?

So many questions... so little time...

Breaking News: Former Pakistani Prime Ministed Killed

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated just hours ago. The cable news networks have been covering the story non-stop since. Below, are the break-in times on the story according to TV Newser:

CNN 6:21
Fox News 6:24
MSNBC 6:29

At the 9:00 a.m. hour, here is who is covering the story:

MSNBC - Mika Brzezinksi
FOX News - Bill Hemmer
CNN - Heidi Collins and Tony Harris

Tip: St. Louis TV Station Ooops!

According to a tip I received recently in my inbox by a reliable source, residents of St. Louis are upset that Channel 2, KTVI, reported feverishly that Albert Pujols was rumored to be named in the Mitchell Report (the in-depth investigation in baseball's steroid scandal). While the station stressed it to be a rumor, viewers were apparently extremely irked. That report later turned out to be untrue.

I tried to contact KTVI for comment, but as of yet, have received no response.

If there are people reading this blog from the St. Louis area, has the response from viewers been very vocal?

The Must Read Blog: KY3 Political Notebook

There is always quality on KY3 news, but there are just some things you can't get into with great depth in a 30 minute newscast. As a result, when it comes to political news, KY3 has a political blog that will make even the most rabid political junkie salivate.

The blog has been around since the 2006 election, but I mention it now because of the upcoming Iowa caucuses and the primary calendar. Political reporter David Catanese and Brad Belote work hard to get the information you need to know.

Check out the blog over the coming days as America counts down to Iowa.

KOAM on Top in the 4 States!

The Turner Report has the scoop on November ratings and KOAM wins every newscast of the newsday. In fact, every Channel 7 newscast has more viewers than KODE and KSNF combined. These ratings are similar to what they have looked like throughout 2007.

KSPR Weather Blog Takes Off

KSPR and its weather team have been busy this holiday season... Meteorologists Kevin Lighty and Josh DeBerge have been providing in-depth analysis of the barrage of recent winter blasts. The blog has been getting major hits... check it out for yourself: www.kspr.com/weather/blog

UPDATE: While the blog is growing, it does not have nearly the number of hits as KOLR or KY3, according to a reliable source.

My Greatest Christmas Gift...

The ability to get back on here and blog! I have been extremely busy for the last month, but I am going to definitely be updating the blog more as we head into the New Year. I have some interesting scoop I have amassed over the last few weeks. More ahead...
